Flashback Friday

Today I am sharing some fun, old Easter themed projects for my Flashback Friday. I sure had fun looking back at some of these old creations. I will be sharing another old favorite Easter project that I created with the girls, so I hope you'll check back! Have a great weekend!
***
First I want to share this old favorite project - one I remember doing with my mom. Here I re-did it using CTMH Sassy Strands but you can use any kind of thin string...

And here is how you create them:

*Blow up some water balloons (they are small and have an egg shape vs. other balloons)

*Dip your string in starch and wrap around the balloon

*Allow the balloon to dry completely (set it on wax paper to dry)

*Once the balloon is dry, pop the balloon and pull it out of your egg shape

And here are some fun pop-up cards with a bunny and a chick - I love these animals because they were created using the Happy Easter stamp set. Their bodies were the egg shape, the chick's feet were the tulip stamp, and the bunny ears were the leaf stamp - how fun is that! So many more possibilities with this stamp set than just eggs and flowers.

And here are some Easter pages that I created before I started blogging, so I haven't had a chance to share them here yet!
***
You may recognize the big picture on the following layout if you have a CTMH Spring 2010 catalog - that's my girls on page 51! You can also check it out here if you missed it before! I used no patterned paper on this layout - only textured CS and the Friendship Flowers stamp set.

I created my patterned paper on the following layout using the Playful Flourishes stamp set with Buttercup and White Daisy inks.

And these pages I have shared on my blog already, but here they are again just because of their theme!

Here I used two Just Blooms flower petals for the bunny ears, and a pink brad for the bunny nose:

Notice how this page and the next are identical - I just used different papers but the same Imagine layout. This was a layout for a gathering, and I gave them a girly option and a boy option.

Thanks for looking!

Ghostbuster Pages

Here are some pages I have done of Ghostbuster - he was such a great horse - he will be missed! Thank you for looking and thanks for all the sweet comments and encouraging words! My kids have handled it better than I thought they would - Kaylee especially loved Ghostbuster, she takes after me with her love of horses. After I talked to my dad, Brailee could tell I was upset and asked me why I was sad. I told her that Ghostbuster had died and she said, "Will he wake up tomorrow?" I briefly tried to explain the best I could to a 2 year old and we haven't talked about it since. Then last night when David got home she went up to him and said, "Ghostbuster died and now I can't ride him anymore." Oh how I wish that weren't so!
I'm even getting brave enough to post some "old" pages - I did these at least 10 years ago! Now keep in mind, I did these back in high school, so lack of supplies and experience contributed to these pages - thank goodness for decorative scissors (which I still have, by the way), decorative borders and markers, or they would be even plainer! As much as I don't like my style on these pages, I will never re-do them (except maybe the water damaged one) as it shows how my style has changed over the years!

July Challenges

Here's how it works - at the beginning of each month, I announce which layouts from Cherish and Imagine that we are going to be doing. I will also post my example. You then create the layout using your choice of theme, papers, orientation, etc. and send me a link or a picture of your layout. I will even accept pages that you have previously done, as long as they use that month's layout. I will draw a name from all participants and the winner will get a fun bundle of cards at the end of the month. It's fun to see the different results from the same layout!

For the month of July...

...the CHERISH Challenge is 'Balanced Blocks' on pages 104 and 105

On this layout I used some fun Basic Gray papers I received from Melissa Priest - thanks Melissa! I was excited that the CTMH Dutch Blue ricrac ribbon matched so well. I also used CTMH's Wishes booking set, Solo #3, and some silver hinges and star brads.

...the IMAGINE Challenge is 'Conclusion Combo' on pages 56 and 57

These pages are the conclusion of my 6-page tribute to my horse, Ghostbuster - all 6 pages go from 1985, when he was born, to 2007. He was a gift to me from my Grandpa Sager for my 8th (?) birthday, but I've known him since he was born. He's now 23 and doing great! There was a horse show in Star Valley a couple weeks ago and the little girl who rode him got High Point in her age division - he is such an amazing horse, simply irreplaceable! If you want to see all of the pages for this tribute, click here.

Fun, quick projects...

Here are a few recent creations...
When my mom was here a couple weeks ago, I helped her make this quick, fun camp journal for her secret sister for Girl's Camp. There are pockets and journaling pages for each day. I just love these Serendipity papers! I hope you have fun at camp this week, Mom!

This was a quick gift I made for a friend who moved away earlier this month - it's a giant clothspin - a fun way to hold pics on a shelf. I used the Caprice papers on this project.
