Sweet Baby Face - PageMaps Sketch Contest

Here is my last minute entry for this month's PageMaps Blog Sketch Contest. I have been really sick today so while David and the girls were outside playing and doing a little spring cleaning, I just took it easy inside. I had an hour where I actually felt good enough to do some scrapping, so I pulled out these old pictures of Brianna, and this fun bright paper that my SIL Sandy gave to me, and put together this page. I didn't think out of the box with this sketch since the pictures fit perfectly, plus I wasn't feeling very creative with this cold ;-P but here it is!

ETA: I just noticed that the contest deadline has been extended, so give this sketch a try! You now have until the 25th.

I used a variety of White Daisy rub-ons from CTMH, flower brads from the White Daisy Mini Medleys, Color-Ready alphabet stickers, and the following stamp sets from CTMH: Calendar, Noteworthy, Precious Alphabet, Sans Alphabet, and Adorable.

Thanks for looking and I appreciate your comments.

Baby Calendar

My dear friend (pictured here with our baby bumps) had her baby a couple weeks ago - here is the gift that I made for her. It's a calendar to capture baby's first year. I've bought one for each of my girls when they were babies, but never thought of making one until now. The only thing I didn't think about before I started is that is has to be a 13 month calendar in order to get the full year, so I had to un-bind it and add an extra calendar page and then re-bind it. I worked each page around the Dazzling Die-Cuts (Spring Harmony collection) and used just three different sets of papers from CTMH, Heaven Sent (retired), Sweet Harmony, and Sweet Pea. When she is done with the calendar, she can either leave it as is, or cut each page out and it will fit in a 12x12 album.

3-D Circle Ornaments & Boxes

We used to make these ornaments out of old Christmas Cards when I learned how to make these growing up - I've had fun making these with the awesome CTMH papers lately. Here are some of both kinds and different sizes. I use my Coluzzle circle to cut out the pieces for the 3-D Circle Ornaments, which is SO much easier than we used to do it - we used to trace and then cut out each circle. I also mixed in some different shapes in here - circles with a square inside, squares on squares, etc, they're really fun to play with! The bigger balls have 20 circles, the smaller balls have 8 circles, the square ones are made up of 6 pieces.

I made these ones for friends who had babies within the last couple months - the other side has a spot for baby's picture.

These are the ones the girls made. I cut and scored their circles, they picked their paper and cut and pasted their triangles and then put them together. These are proudly hanging on our tree.

School Pictures

I got this year's school pictures scrapped already - here they are...sorry for the glare on the pics, I couldn't get a decent pic without the flash.

I did this one yesterday - I used Erin's Sketch Challenge posted on her blog - as soon as I saw her sketch I knew what I was going to use it for, it just took me a few weeks to get around to it ;-) I used the Stylin' papers and Stickease (retired), and the letter K from the Black Dazzling Die-Cuts, along with the Classmates Alphabet and Sparkles.

I did this one last week - and my creativity was really lacking. Here is the first end result and I just didn't like it...

...something was missing, plus I hated my spacing on the word 'for' - I don't know what I was thinking! So I let it sit for a few days and then I found these fun sparkly flourishes at WalMart and knew they would be just perfect! It's still not one of my favorite layouts, but I'm much happier with it now. I used the B from the Crystal Blue Dazzling Die-Cuts, stamped with the Spot On Background, and the frame and hearts came from the Watermelon Dazzling Die-Cuts, also stamped with Spot On. I also used the Classmates Alphabet, Sparkles, and paper from the Notebook pack.

Thanks for looking!

I Do It!

Here is the layout that I did for this month's Imagine Challenge - there's a lot of pink here, but I really like how it turned out. I ended up rotating both layouts to fit my pics - that's what I love about doing square layouts, it's so easy to make it work! This layout talks about Brailee's strong independence right now - she wants to do everything herself and is constantly telling me "I Do It!" and she's so proud of herself when she actually does! Putting on her shoes is her favorite thing to do herself - I'm not looking forward to winter when it's too cold for these shoes and I will have to help her against her will ;-)

Once Upon a Time...

...there was a little girl named Jena...
For some reason, I've really been in the mood to scrap some really OLD pictures! Here is what I've done in the last week...can you tell what my favorite animal is ;-) When I was little, apparently, I had my very own corral of imaginary horses. I had a cousin that I was very close to and we were always playing together when she was visiting - we still had our fights, though. One day for some reason, she let all my imaginary horses loose - I was devastated! My aunts and uncles will never let me forget that story.
I need to finish up the journaling on the first two, but I don't remember the horse's names - Mom, or Dad, can you help me out?

I love you mom! Happy Mother's Day!

Here is a page I just did in honor of my mother - who I love very much ;-) There is a church that I drive by every day and each week they display a new thought or quote - the one I used on this page has been their thought for this week and I remembered these pictures I had of me and my mom that were taken 10 years ago, so I was inspired to put them together.

I also used Marjorie's Color Challenge #15, but left out the Crystal Blue. I used a PageMaps layout, Barn Red CS, Bamboo CS(which I scored and sanded to create the stripes), White Daisy CS, Connection Club Rub-Ons, the font CD for the quote, Calendar stamp set, and an Autumn Leaves brand Clear Stamps Alpha set (the name escapes me right now).

Thanks for looking and I hope you all have a Happy Mother's Day!

My Inspiration Layout...

Now here is my layout for my Inspiration Challenge - Week #10

I didn't really stray from the original design - I just loved it how it was! It reminded me of splashes so I knew it would be perfect with this picture. I also used Marjorie's Color Challenge #17, as it was similar to the original design, except I changed the Holiday Red to Dutch Blue. I had fully intended on using the red as Kaylee's swimsuit is red, but you can't really see it in this pic, and I added the blue to go with Brianna's floaties - isn't that just like me to always change the color challenge combos ;-)

I free-handed the first splash and from there just used the same template to make them bigger or smaller. I used a plate to create the circle element. It was really pretty simple once I cut out the splashes! I plan on doing a companion page, or possibly a couple more, as I have a lot of pics from that day - but here is the first one for now - thanks for looking!

Products Used - all CTMH: Bubblegum textured CS, Dutch Blue textured CS, Sunflower textured CS, Orange CS, White Brads (Bigger, Regular, and Bitty), Hodgepodge Alphabet stamp set, Calendar stamp set
