Flashback Friday

For today's flashback we're going back to 2001 - this is my hubby working as a Radiation Technician - they called them Rad. Tech.s. He had to do LOTS of walking, he went through so many work boots and had sore feet that summer!

This page is a sneak peek at the Felicity papers that will be available from Close To My Heart starting December 15th! I also used some Whimsy Heartfelt Die Cuts, Autumn Terracotta Textured Cardstock, Cocoa CS, Bamboo CS, Barn Red CS, sandpaper, and Autumn Terracotta Photo Clips, and New England Ivy Bigger Brads. This was also a layout from my PageMaps book.

And since I'm up bright and early (since 1:30) with a sick kiddo, I'll share a couple more pictures. Remember that cool picture that I took on Wednesday? Well, I'm glad I braved the below zero temps to get it that morning - that night we had a lot of wind that blew all the snow off the ornaments and some of the ornaments off the tree. I thought they looked cool with the wind-blown snow and shadows so I was out again yesterday morning to get more pictures. I'm sure my neighbors think I'm crazy taking pictures of my ornaments ;-P but I think they turned out pretty cool.

Turn that frown upside-down!

These pictures of Brianna just crack me up and I couldn't wait to scrap them. They were taken on our last camping trip this year, in Star Valley. These pics also worked great with one of Marjorie's old color challenges, so I used MCC #30.
***
Brianna was so mad, and I don't remember why, but as soon as I started taking pics of that grumpy face, she turned it around really quick and got right in the camera with a big ol' goofy face. The big pic on the right page is blurry and her face is so nice and dirty in these pics, but they totally show off her fun personality.

I used a PageMaps sketch from September 2007 and made a circle with Red Sparkles and a hand drawn arrow. I also used paper from the Game On pack, along with some Black Textured CS (I used the back for the gray arrow). I was going to emboss the words 'turn that' but I couldn't find my black embossing powder - I still plan on making those words darker, though, they seem really faded to me. Oh, and I used my Threading Water Fiskars punch for the scalloped edge, and Spot On Background stamp set on the Dimensional Elements.
Thanks for looking!

Birthday Cards & Gifts

Here are some birthday cards and gifts that I have made recently and haven't posted yet...
***

For my SIL Liz - she likes orange - or at least I hope she still does ;-P Happy Birthday yesterday, Liz!

For my SIL Hannah - I really had fun with this card and I took a lot of pics of this one so you get how it looks. I took inspiration from Originals: Window Cutout, but instead of a 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 card, I turned it into a standard sized card (4 1/4 x 5 1/2). I embossed the star from Shining Star with Cranberry EP onto black CS and cut it out - then I mounted it on a piece of white CS and cut out again. then I cut out the center of the front of the card leaving a 3/4 inch border and attached the star. I also used the dot paper from Silhouette (I LOVE that pattern!), some Cranberry Ribbon, Black Waxy Flax, and some Black Bitty Brads.

I played a little more with it after my original pic, adding dashed lines around the star - did I add too much? Which do you like better, the first or second version?

For my nephew Damon who turned 6 last month - just a simple card using the most boyish stamps I own - when you have 3 girls there's just not too much boy stuff around ;-P Brianna picked the color since he is her bud. I stamped the Tool Time stamp sets using White Daisy pigment ink - and used Moonstruck B&T papers, Say It In Style stamp set for the sentiment, and some fun blue staples.

for my nephew Isaac who just turned 8 and was baptized this weekend! I used MCC #34 and Solos (G, R, 8, and the new Punctuation set). I was inspired by a sign at a local fast food place, advertising 'Join a GR8 team!' So I thought it would be perfect for an 8th birthday!

I also made him this journal/notebook - inside the front cover is a picture of Christ getting baptized. This was inspired by Originals: Tie Back Tag but created an 8 1/2 x 11 cover with it.

for my MIL - Happy Birthday today! She loves pink, can you tell? I took inspiration from Originals: Ribbon Envelope but turned it into a 6x6 card. I used Adorning Corners and For Every Occassion - I used some mini clear window circle stickers on the dark side of Blush textured CS to create the embellishment in the corner. I used the light side of the Blush textured CS for the front of the card, along with paper from the Paper Garden pack.

Here is another baby gift - that is LONG overdue! This is a fun puzzle (?) frame that I found - I don't know how else to describe it - each of the squares slides around like those puzzle games. I started this gift right after she was born, then the pics she e-mailed me, I couldn't get to print, so after I finally remembered to tell the mom I needed another picture, I was able to finish it up a few weeks ago when I finally got that picture. I just hadn't given it to the mom and baby yet (sadly she is almost 6 months old now) - I scheduled it to post here so I would finally remember. What a horrible friend I am ;-P

I love YOU the most!

My mom sent the girls these sweet letters and pictures shortly after her most recent trip here - they were so precious that I didn't want them lost or forgotten, so I scrapped them! I used MCC #20 for these pages - for those who aren't familiar with Stacy's abbreviation, that means Marjorie's Color Challenge. I used to do at least one of her challenges per month, but it's been a while lately, and this is even an old one, so it shows how far behind I am! You can check out all of her color challenges HERE.

Here is the layout with a sneak peak of CTMH's upcoming December Stamp of the Month, Heart Throb! I usually don't like Valentine stamp sets, but I just LOVE this one! I am working on another layout today using this stamp set again, hopefully I'll get it posted tomorrow.

Products Used - all CTMH: Imagine Layout Sweet Symphony (page 24), Watermelon, Hydrangea, and Moonstruck B&T papers (all retired), Heavenly Blue CS, Extreme Caps, Rustic Alphabet (stamp kissed with Heart Throb), Because I Love You stamp set, Dimensional Elements Flower Garden, Heavenly Blue Embossing Powder, White Daisy Embossing Powder, Moonstruck and Hydrangea Bigger Brads, White Daisy RicRac Ribbon

Bed Head

Okay, so this is the layout that was inspired by my Scentsy Warmer - I really liked the dots on it and it reminded me of the paper piercing that I've tried once before. My original plan was to pierce the small dots and punch out the big dots on the Vineyard Berry strips, so you could see the Hollyhock through the holes, but luckily I tried it on a scrap first and it looked better with just the stamped background - no holes - which is a good thing because that would have taken FOREVER! But I still kept with the original inspiration of the dots using the stamp set and the fun brads. I used Marjorie's Color Challenge #14 for this layout.

All products used are from CTMH. I used Hollyhock and Vineyard Berry CS, and Topiary and Breeze Textured CS - I used the back of the textured CS for the lighter shades - I just love that feature! I also used the Spot On Background stamp set (my favorite stamp set from the new Summer Idea Book) - I used it to create the pattern on the Vineyard Berry CS, and to 'stamp kiss' the letters for the title. Other products used: White Bigger Brads, White Regular Brads, White Bitty Brads, Rustic Alphabet, and Extreme Caps.

Inspiration Challenge

For the last two months, I have been posting 'Inspiration Challenges' on the CTMH bulletin boards - it's been fun to see everyone's take on the inspiration that I post.

Here's how it works - every Wednesday I post a picture of something and you use it to inspire you to create anything! You can use the colors, theme, layout, whatever you pull from the picture to inspire you! Does that make sense? Please leave me a link to your creations so I can post them here so we can all see how you were inspired.

This was last week's Inspiration Challenge - this is some of my favorite wrapping paper I've had for quite a while - my girls had to wrap a present for a friend's birthday last week (hence the wrinkled paper) and so I was inspired!

And here is what it inspired - I've had this picture sitting on my desk for the last month just waiting for inspiration and this was perfect. I didn't like my page at first, but after I came back to it 2 hours later, it started to grow on me. After not scrapping for so long, I'm going through withdrawals and not quite getting back into the groove. Hopefully that will change!

All products used are CTMH, except I used my girl's Cuttlekids for the title. I used Reflections: Main Frame - Four Square, black bitty brads for the bunny's eyes, a bigger brad for the nose, two paper flower petals for the ears, chalk for color and depth, Clover Meadow, White Daisy, Sunny Yellow, and Hydrangea CS, Dimensional Element letter H, HodgePodge Alphabet, and Extreme Caps for the date. I used my stylus to freehand the wavy lines on the back of my paper and then I sanded the front to bring out the pattern.
